As a family business we enthusiastically support community initiatives that align with our values and are relevant to our coastal location. Each year our team participates in a range of events and activities to promote health and wellbeing in our local community. Over the years we have contributed to Live for More (surf programme), Breast Cancer Support Services and Breast Cancer Foundation NZ, Women’s Refuge, Variety Club, KidsCan,Hato Hone - St John, Surf Lifesaving NZ – and more.
We have also been proud sponsors to up-and-coming young water sport athletes in both junior surfing and canoe slalom.

Professional Project Management & Client Care
Many clients return to us for subsequent builds due to our exceptional service and reputation for exceeding client expectations. Providing a single point of contact from the outset,and providing oversight throughout the entire process, our Client Care Managers are key to making the building journey smooth and enjoyable. During the construction phase you will have a dedicated Project Manager, a skilled building professional committed to managing and delivering your project on time and to plan. Managing suppliers, coordinating and scheduling contractors, your Project Manager will work closely with you throughout construction to accommodate any changes and keep you updated on progress and design decisions. We are committed to adhering to the agreed handover date while ensuring we do not compromise along the way on construction quality.
Technology / Systems / Tools
While we hold strongly to traditional values like craftsmanship and ethics, Thorne Group leads the way with world-class technology and systems enabling you to track your project online from anywhere in the world. Access documents, check the project schedule, keep up to date on progress and view photos as your new home takes shape – all at the click of a button.
Budget Tracking and Reporting
Trusting us with what is likely to be your most significant investment in life, is not something we take lightly. Our business operates from a foundation of sound ethics and mutual trust. From project pricing and establishing a realistic budget at the outset, through to monitoring expenditure and tracking variances,we guarantee transparency and accountability. Our Group Accountant oversees all financial operations and systems and scrutinises costs vs. budget for every project, reporting monthly to our clients.In essence, our commitment to ethical conduct,transparent operations, and community respect sets Thorne Group Homes apart. This has earned us a reputation as a trusted leader in the construction industry.
After care and support
As a family-owned business, each home we create carries our family name – something we do not take lightly. Although we are proud of our reputation for quality, we understand that concerns sometimes crop up as you settle in.
Our after-care service ensures any defects or maintenance queries that occur within the first 2-years after completion are promptly responded to and resolved, and ongoing support is provided throughout the 10-year Registered Master Build Guarantee period.

We employ the services of an independent researcher who conducts deep dives with our previous clients to uncover areas for improvement to ensure we have meaningful change. Safe Operating Practice
The wellbeing of our staff, sub-contractors, clients and wider community is of the highest priority in how we operate. We make no apologies for expecting high standards of safety practice on our worksites, often going beyond industry norms. We engage an independent Health and Safety Advisor to oversee our operating practice and drive continuous improvement. We expect and
encourage a high level of compliance with all safety provisions and promote a culture of ‘safety consciousness’ with both staff and clients

Sustainability / Eco building Focus
As a building company, we are very conscious of our environmental footprint and the part we play in constructing homes fit for the future.
Our involvement in environmental projects in the Tauranga region aims to benefit future generations. By planting native shrubs and trees for perpetuity at Summerhill Farm and Recreational Park (as well as other projects), we can help mitigate the carbon footprint that is generated during construction.
As well as applying building methodologies that are sustainable and environmentally friendly, we work alongside architectural designers to create healthy homes using sustainable products and aiming for superior Homestar / Green Star* ratings, that reflect our commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
